In 1999, Honda CR-V had minor changes with an upgrading in engine. Engine upgrades was done as much criticism on engine capability of CR-V. It said the engine of first generation Honda CR-V was not powerful enough to carry 1500 kg CR-V. So, Honda upgraded the engine to powered 146 HP/6200 rpm and torque of 180 Nm/4500 rpm.
Third generation CR-V was launched in 2007, a Honda CR-V redesign. Honda CR-V third generation has the latest generation of 2.4L Honda K engine family. 2.4L 4-cylinder inline engine is also mounted on the Honda Accord and Honda Element. It has a maximum power of 166 hp/5600 rpm and maximum torque 218 Nm/4200 rpm. Other petrol engine used is 2.0L i-VTEC SOHC engine (code K20A). There is also available a 2.2L i-CTDI diesel engine for Asian and European markets.
