Car Auto Online - 10 Driving Skills For Life Tips from Ford - Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) is back to organize a series of Driving Skills For Life (DSFL) training, which the previous DSFL program was officially launched last year on August 25, managed to certify more than 1,000 participants.

Driving Skills For Life campaign offers a free car driving education and training to the public, teaching practical skills and techniques to a safe and economical fuel driving.

A global program run by Ford Motor Company was introduced in Indonesia with the support of the Department of Transportation and co-operation with the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation and Indonesia Defensive Driving Center (IDDC​​).

In this training, the 10 tips from DSFL given to the participants in order to become a safe, friendly and obey traffic rules driver in everyday driving. This training has been adapted to the needs of the environment and driving conditions in Indonesia.

"Traffic safety is a serious problem in Indonesia and is a very relevant issue to our business. Driving Skills for Life is an ideal way for Ford and its partners to work together with Indonesian media in raising the level of road security and safety in Indonesia. Here are 10 Driving Skills For Life Tips from Ford:

1. Always use a safety / seat belt at any time, even when your car is in a parked
2. Adjust the rearview mirror to help increasing visibility, side and rear views
3. Be a defensive driver, driving with a calm, always in alert and ready to face any situation.
4. Keep away from distractions while driving, that can impair driving concentration, (ie: the use of mobile phones, watching TV and smoking)
5. Keep a safe distance with other vehicles. Defensive driver is always to provide space around the vehicle. Do not get too close to the vehicle in front. The more space available, the more time available to react to avoid a collision or a bump
6. Do a shift in an ideal RPM.
7. Use the momentum of vehicle movement to reduce fuel consumption
8. Turn off the engine when the vehicle is stopped (ie: when stopped for more than 10 seconds)
9. Check and adjust tire pressure according to manufacturer's recommendations
10. Reduce loads on the vehicle for fuel-efficient
