Peugeot Ion, New Peugeot Electric Car Specs, Range and Price

Car Auto Online | Peugeot Ion, New Peugeot Electric Car Specs, Range and Price | Electric Peugeot ion, which is also known as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and the Citroen C-Zero, is a sophisticated and well mannered in the city car. Unfortunately, it is disappointed by its high price, short-range and long recharge time.

Peugeot Ion use an electric motor activator for rear wheel and reduction single-ratio reduction gearbox mounted on the front of the rear suspension. The battery of Peugeot Ion comes with a new generation of lithium ion energy storage which far exceeds the old Ni Cd used in the late1990(three times more energy per kilo or two times per unit volume). While driving alone, Peugeot ions is not the lack of character and performance. Once the needis clear, the use of free gas of torque is available immediately for fast linear acceleration. Peugeot Ion take 3.5seconds to go from 30 km/h to 60km/h(compared with3.9seconds onthe three in one liter 207 1.6 THP)is a testament to the greatness of the Peugeot Ion.

Electric cars are expensive to produce. Some manufacturers have therefore avoided entirely on traditional methods of propulsion, while others have taken a decisive step, and created their own vehicles, at a price.

Other manufacturers of electric cars - Peugeot, Citroën and Mitsubishi in particular - have combined their resources to create a single platform to reduce costs. The result of this fusion of talent is the Peugeot Ion, a car that can also be seen sporting Mitsubishi i-MiEV and distinctive Citroen C-Zero.

We took this incarnation of Peugeot electric car in a few short trips in the city, punctuated by several long stints, and the charge, whether it is worth € 33 000 - or £ 28 000 after the state subsidies.

Peugeot Ion is a odd-looking vehicle. This is a very long and narrow, and it seems that would be involved in some kind of horrible side impact with a pair of double-decker bus. Do not let that fool you as strange, though. Ion may be a long and narrow, but offers plenty of space for residents, as a kind of electrified Tardis on wheels.

There are bags with room for four passengers - two front and two rear - and there is absolutely no reason to snuggle up to those sitting next to you, unless they are particularly cool . Speaking of which, if you are extremely fat, you may want to stay away from Peugeot Ion, its maximum payload is 330 kg, which is about 52 stones. World's heaviest man must remain clear of the engine.

The Peugeot Ions are ideally suited to very large, however - the headroom is like nothing we've seen in a car before. Would have to sacrifice some room to improve aerodynamic efficiency, although the person Marge Simpson or Amy Winehouse school of hairdressing love this deal.

The boot space is pretty pathetic. Cargo Capacity is only 163 liters, which is just enough to spend a few days worth of purchases.

Like most electric cars, Ion is a stylish around. Pulled out of the silence, which is very confusing at first, but it is effortless and smooth acceleration and a quiet cabin, creating levels of luxury limousines.

Unfortunately, it is not particularly fast off-line. It seems to take ages to get a crash died at 15 mph, but when above this speed, the torque of 64bhp electric motor turns cauldron, to help the car accelerates vigorously until the shots about 40 miles per Speedo ' time. After this time, power delivery is more a trickle of the stream.

Peugeot Ion claims to take you from 0 to 30 miles per hour over a very respectable 5.9 seconds and from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 15.9 seconds. Its top speed of 81 mph mean that you can get out on the highway without fear of being passed by trucks, while its altitude means that it is very hard hit by strong crosswinds.

Around the city, Peugeot Ion running well. It is, however, the fight against big hits, and will have to slow down when you encounter bumps, which feel like miniature mountains.

Peugeot Ion capabilities cornering and braking were absolutely fine and dry conditions that we tested. But we have doubts about the ion, the super-tight wheels, would survive very wet, ice or snow.

Like all electric cars, lithium can be downloaded via the standard household socket. The 16kWh lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in about 7 hours, after which it can reach about 93 miles of driving, the New European Driving Cycle test.

Unfortunately, the NEDC does not reflect the way that normal people do, or a myriad of factors that influence the range electric car is - speed, slope, road, stop-start traffic, ambient temperature, use the auxiliary systems, such as a stereo and air conditioning, and so on. As a result, the actual driving range varies from person to person.

On average we have about 58 miles between charges driving routes through traffic mixes infested B short segments of roads, and travel half a mile in our region. Many of these miles, it must be said, is filled with anxiety because the Peugeot Ion does not try to tell you how much range she has. On the contrary, shows an energy bar pretty useless - like you in a mobile phone - that tells you the state of charge, but not the speed at which the load is reduced.

Peugeot Ion does not have a lot of technology in the cabin. There is a time for a mediocre CD stereo system, which it does, its credit support for Bluetooth hands-free calling, and there's a USB port for playing digital music. And 'rather than long, however.

Peugeot may provide an optional driver's seat and heated exterior mirrors, if you are willing to participate with a 155 pounds. You can also equip the car with a Garmin GPS. Yet the luxury are few and far between.

New Concept Cars from BMW, See-Through Glass Exterior Electric Cars, Hybrid Cars

Car Auto Online | New Concept Cars from BMW, See-Through Glass Exterior Electric Cars, Hybrid Cars | BMW has unveiled a pair of concept cars Wednesday, including a hybrid and an electric cars, made of lightweight carbon fiber and see through glass exterior .

The cars will come into production over the next two to three years.

Carbon fiber I3 city cars and I8 sports cars significantly reduces vehicle weight and size of the frame, giving designers more flexibility and to create more space for passengers, said Richard Kim, who has designed for outdoor use both vehicles.

The material used in the aviation industry and also for high-end bicycles, is valued for its strength to weight ratio. Its aim is to develop, however, and engineers are designing all camping equipment for billiard cues.

For the German manufacturer, it allowed more of glass, which is traditionally made of metal, said Kim. The doors in the two cars are mostly made of glass, along with many of their roofs and tailends .

BMW says the car has "an excellent safety in case of collision."

The final product may not appear so dramatic, but it's the same feeling of a concept car, Kim said.

"You can not see the glass so much, but you could see the light come through," Kim said at an event Wednesday in New York preview. The cars will be officially launched next week at the Auto Show Los Angeles.

The I3 should go into production in 2013, the production of I8 in the next years later. Car prices have yet to be determined, although carbon fiber is not cheap.

A four-door i3 is designed for city driving, and the wheels out of corners of the frame stability. And 'the coach-style doors, with front and rear doors swing open in the middle of the vehicle.

The additional stability of carbon fiber allowed designers to remove the pillar of support traditionally found between the front and rear doors, which makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, said Kim.

The i3 comes in an all-electric version that can go from 80 to 100 miles on a single charge, but buyers have the option of adding a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery if necessary. It takes about six hours to fully charge the battery.

The sporty I8 has two-wings door made of glass and elegant silhouette. The exterior is designed to help the car cut through the air more efficiently.

AWD car has a battery and gas engine work together with the battery powering the front wheels and a gasoline engine to turn the rear wheels. Without the gas engine, the car has a range of about 20 miles, but the charges completely in less than two hours.
